Best town on the map: the ranking

Which town in Newfoundland and Labrador is most complete on the map, and its people move it up: every place they confirm counts. Not size and not money: a small town can beat a city, and nobody can pay to rank.

Get your town on the board

Nearly on the board. A town is ranked once its eating list has 10 places; “to go” is how many more places to eat its list needs: Placentia (7 to go), Ferryland (7 to go), Brigus (6 to go), Woody Point (1 to go), Cow Head (6 to go), L'Anse aux Meadows (9 to go), Fogo Island (3 to go).

Not ranked yet (no eating list on From the Airport so far): Bonavista, Burgeo. Each goes on the table the day its places to eat are listed.

Your town not here? Email us with the subject “Add your town to the ranking”. From the Airport builds the town’s list of places to eat, and it appears under “Nearly on the board” until the list reaches 10.

The rules version 2, 22 October 2026

  1. Score out of 100, the same way for every town: the share of the town’s places to eat confirmed by a second source. A share, not a count, so a small town can beat a city.
  2. #1 is the Town Champ. The Top 3 are named on every town’s page.
  3. Nothing bought counts. No paid listing, ad or product earns a point, ours included. Only work From the Airport has checked counts.
  4. On the board at 10: a town is ranked once its eating list has at least 10 places, so one confirmation on a tiny list can’t swing the table. Smaller lists show how many to go.
  5. Ties: the higher exact share, then more confirmed places, then alphabetical.
  6. Recounted from the live site every time the pages are rebuilt. No figure is typed in.
  7. Leading your town’s push: a council, tourism group or business group emails us who’s leading. We send the town’s list of what’s still missing and tell them each time the town moves up. Lead your town’s push
