Burgeo, grown together
How three small Newfoundland projects can help Burgeo’s cabin owners, the town, the region and the province, and how anyone can help them do it. October 2026.
Burgeo goes on the board as soon as From the Airport lists 10 of its places to eat. Send in the cafés, takeouts and restaurants you know, and it starts climbing. Top 3 today: #1 Port aux Basques, #2 Lewisporte, #3 St. John's.

How the three fit together
Nobody can pay to be listed on the guide, or to be first in the cabin list. That’s what keeps it worth trusting.
Why it’s good for…
The cabin owner
- Guests book with you and pay you directly. Their money never passes through us.
- A flat fee only on stays paid through your page, never more than half of what Airbnb would have taken on that stay, and capped each month. No stays, no bill.
- Your calendar syncs with the big booking sites every 30 minutes, so a night is never sold twice.
- Guests arrive knowing the 266 km drive from Deer Lake airport and where to eat.
The town
- Every place to eat, trail and sight is listed free, from public sources. No business can buy a better spot.
- Visitors can see what’s here before they arrive, and plan more than a stop on the way through.
- Corrections and photos from locals go straight in, through one form.
The region
- Every route into Burgeo is measured from each airport and ferry, so a visitor sees the whole island’s distances at once.
- The money a visitor spends stays with local owners, cafés and photographers.
The province
- Someone from away can see where Burgeo is and how to get there from every airport and ferry.
- Bookings are paid straight to Newfoundland owners.
- Local photographers get credit, and a way to sell prints of their own places.
- Free and open, so any town, business or tourism group can use it.
Make Burgeo the best town on the map
Things only people who know Burgeo can do. Each takes a few minutes, and your name goes on it.
- List the places to eat. From the Airport has no eating page for Burgeo yet, so the town can’t be ranked. Send the cafés, restaurants and takeouts you know, and Burgeo goes on the table. Send them
- Know a trail near Burgeo? Send the one you walk most. Walk it with your phone recording and send the GPX. How to send it
- Share a photo of a place you love. Credited to you, wherever it shows. Share a photo
- Tell us what’s on. Festivals, suppers, concerts, shows and tournaments. Send an event
- Is your rink, field or hall on the map? Check the rinks, fields and clubs page, and tell us what’s missing. Tell us
- Be the first Burgeo cabin listed. No Burgeo place is on the Best Kind Stays list yet. The first owner puts the town on it. Get a booking page
Ways anyone can help it grow
- Share the Burgeo page. fromtheairport.xyz/routes/yyt-burgeo: on your website, in booking confirmations, on social media. A link costs nothing and needs no sign-up.
- Put the map on your own site. One line of code shows the drive and the day trips. How: fromtheairport.xyz/partners.
- Own a cabin or vacation home? Get your own booking page at bestkindstays.ca/owners. If another owner sent you, say so: you both get a thank-you.
- Run a business, know the town, or have a walk worth sharing? Check your listing, or send a correction, a photo, or the GPX of a walk or ride at fromtheairport.xyz/contribute.
- Take photographs of Burgeo? Print the Place turns your folder into your own site with prints, always credited to you. Ask at [email protected].

Feedback, from anyone
Owners, the town, businesses, visitors: anything that’s wrong, missing or could be better. Email [email protected]. A person reads every message and writes back with what changed.
Distances are measured by road and published on fromtheairport.xyz. Counts are the town and eating pages’ own, read 24 October 2026.
On a phone, “Send to my computer” opens the share sheet. Pick AirDrop, or a message to yourself.
